The couch that wasn't

Everyone please cry with me right now...
Amazing orange leather couch
We saw this beauty soon after we entered a local thrift store and immediately ran toward it.
It already had a SOLD sticker on it.
NOOOOOO!!!!
:::shakes fist angrily at early-bird customer:::

For so long we have searched for an affordable, but cute, couch for our living room. A colored one was a MAJOR plus! Like many of you, I am a Pinterest-obsessed person. All over Pinterest I have encountered the most ADORABLE couches! Yellow, red, blue. Covered in pillows. I want a colorful couch. And the Amazing Orange Leather Couch was gonna be the one...until I saw the evil SOLD sticker on it :(

Other than that, we are doing good :P
Hope ya'll are having a nice weekend!

Shout Out!

Today I have to do a shout out to Bountiful Baskets! It is a company that distributes baskets of produce, and even includes breads! Baskets are distributed by volunteers and different places all over the US. After hearing about it months ago I decided to set up an account and try it myself. You never know what kind of produce you're gonna get. I guess that can be both good and bad, but I loved the idea of not knowing what to expect! My haul from my very first experience included:
6 corn
1 lb. celery
4 tomatoes
1 head iceburg lettuce
2 green bell peppers
2 red bell peppers
6 pears (one didn't make it home thanks to my hubby's hungry stomach. Haha)
4 lemons
1 lb. concord grapes
1 cantaloupe
7 small bananas
7 kiwis

Quite a lot of food for just 2 people! I was pretty pleased with what I received: some basics mixed in with a few unexpected things. I feel like it will push the monotony of my cooking. Kiwis? Does anybody have good recipes for kiwis besides fruit pizza? Also, concord grapes aren't your normal type of grape. I've never used them before! If anyone has any advice for them that would be great :)

I have a few recipes in mind. I've made lemon curd before and I loved it! I plan on doing that for the lemons. I found a good recipe for spiced pear cookies (if the pears last long enough). Anybody have recipes they'd like to share? Let me know!

July and Craftiness

July has been pretty busy for us! Our Fourth consisted of an overnight camping trip with Kyle's family in Cascade. It was full of swimming and of course a lot of food! Kyle was excited to try the new jumbo sized marshmallows they now have in stores. Those make for some pretty large smores!
Lately we've been having game night with some old high school friends. Everyone just brings dinner/snacks/dessert and a game or 2. Friday, we went thrifting and found a brand new Pirates of the Carribean Scene It! It's super easy compared to Trivial Pursuit though... We also have a new game, Rummikub, given to us by my friend Misha (we miss you guys!). I think we'll bring that one to the next game night!
Lately I've been a little addicted to Pinterest ;) and I love browsing through the recipes and craft ideas! I don't have pics yet of what I have made but I'll put them up as soon as I find the camera charger :P
About a month ago I went to a baby shower and made some cute bows to go on a headband
I also had fun making Misha's little girl Eliza some bows
Thanks for being my guinea pig, Liza!

Making a comeback!

I'm making a comeback to blogging! Haha maybe I will have stuff to write about :)
We have some friends that are moving soon and one way to keep in touch with them is blogging so here we are again.

I don't have any real posts set up yet so here's a little video to chew on while waiting for future posts :P

p.s. I love how he's playing a lot of my favorite songs! Wowza.

let's try this again...

so, obviously i'm not a blogger. however, while i might not blog much i thoroughly enjoy reading others' blogs! i guess you can say "blog stalker" is the technical term ;)

anyway, since i read blogs that everyone has worked hard over, why not give back and share my thoughts? admittedly, we're at a slow pace here in our lives with both of us working full time and nothing super exciting in between. but i'm willing to give it a shot again. comment away; it'll bring encouragement!

You and I...

2 years ago today we were engaged! Yes, Valentine's day is an obvious day for an engagement, and no, I was actually not expecting it because it was so obvious. He's a sneaky one for sure...

And I was tagged to do this little "love quiz" since February is the month of "love", so why not focus on my hubby?

4. How old is he? 23

5. Who is taller? he is, of course. anyone would be taller than me

6. Who is smarter? hmmm me! haha. honestly, I think we're equally smart. I think he's smarter in some areas than I am, and vice versa. It's a good balance.

7. Who does laundry? we take turns putting a load on. but, I mostly fold the clothes since he will just throw them in his drawer :)

8. Who pays the bills? He does. But that's because he has the online bank system setup. I guess you could say that I oversee it all :)

10. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? at the moment, he does.

15. What are his hobbies? gaming, reading, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, playing with the ipod, exercising, spending time with me <3

16. Who drives? He does.

17. Who kissed who first? he did! and it was awesome :)

19. What's your favorite physical feature about him? his pretty eyes. they're a very pretty color blue and very expressive.

20. What's a hidden talent that he has? kyle can juggle and do magic tricks. if you're ever around him, ask him to do card tricks; they trip me out!

21. What's your favorite quality about him? he is so selfless and always makes sure I am happy. plus, he is sooooo easy to talk to. he his my talking buddy for life.

22. Who has more friends? hmmm. I'm not sure. I guess we're about the same!

23. Who does the dishes? that's my job! his job is to take out the trash.

24. Whose parents do you see more often? haha it's a tie. our parents live within a couple miles of eachother so we switch off whenever we're in town.

26. Who wears the pants? We both do.

27. What is your favorite gift he has given you? definently my wedding ring!

28. Does he have a nickname? not really. I guess he's loosely known as "Pyro" because of his obsession with explosions. that was back in high school though.

Happy happy news

Good news...we are moving to Boise! Our living space is a tiny 2 bed 1 bath townhouse in the downtown area. Pictures will come...I may even do a before and after thingy. Although, the after part won't come for a while. Unpacking isn't fun to do.

More good news...Kyle has a good job with Verizon that includes insurance and all that good stuff! Did I mention we get a discount on our cell phone bill? Yep! Happy stuff! He's going to finish his associate in a bit at a community college then probably finish up at Boise State. Wowsers, we're turning into Broncos!

Some more good news...I am SUPER close in getting a job. Yay me!

And yet, more good news...Grocery Outlet is just down the road! So happy for cheap groceries.
